About this Event
Hello Stratford! Let us introduce ourselves to you. We are new, amazing subcommittee of the Stratford Arts Commission called the Stratford Remembers Committee. We are working on a Memorial Day display for the town similar to the one that was done in London, England. In 2014 the Tower of London marked the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of The First World War (WWI) with the commemorative art installation, which saw the moat filled with thousands of ceramic poppies. We are making ceramic poppies and will be displaying them at one or two locations around town for the Memorial Day weekend in May. In order to make that happen, we will be holding several sessions where we will be looking for volunteers to join us in making the poppies from raw clay and glazing the poppies that have been previously made and fired in a kiln.
Join us on Saturday, November 6th from 12pm-3 pm at pavilion 1 in Booth Memorial Park as we make ceramic poppies for Stratford's Memorial Day Display. Our goal for our town display 1000 poppies.
This event is limited to 50 participants. We will be outdoors, so prepare for colder temperatures.
