Our second photography workshop at an active theater will be at the Strand Theatre in Boston, MA, on August 21, 2022.
The Strand originally opened on November 11, 1918, in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It was designed by Boston architectural firm Funk and Wilcox, who also designed the nearby Franklin Park Theatre. It is currently used as a performing arts center.
The Workshop: I will be on hand to help you with questions you may have - these buildings can be a challenge to photograph, and I’m happy to answer any you may have. I want you to leave with photos you’re proud of, so don’t be afraid to ask me anything -- I’ve been photographing abandoned theaters for over 10 years (and abandoned buildings for almost 20), and I’ve picked up some tips and tricks along the way. The whole theater is well lit (because it's active) but I will have my lights with me so we can get some shots without the theater lights.
