Straight Up & Toasted at The Carnegie Club

It's July in the city and it's getting HOT. So cool down with us at The Carnegie Club for a very special pairing featuring jazzy vibes, incredible cigars, and limited edition single malts.

That's right, on Wednesday, July 17th at 8pm, we're hosting our second Straight Up & Toasted event of the year, where each attendee will pair both the AVO XO and AVO Syncro Caribe alongside two incredible single malts from Glenmorangie: La Santa and the limited release Glenmorangie A Tale of Tokyo.

Attendees will also have the chance to meet Eddy Guerra, Head of Brand Marketing at Davidoff, who has been instrumental in the formulation of recent AVO, Davidoff and Camacho releases.

For 24 hours, a limited number of tickets are $50 online. After that, $60 online and $75 at door.

AVO XO

The AVO XO, crafted by Davidoff in the Dominican Republic, utilizes six-year-aged Dominican tobaccos and a smooth Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. Positioned between the milder AVO Classics and the more robust Signature lines, the AVO XO offers a medium-bodied smoking experience, blending notes of cream, wood, spice, and dried fruits into a complex yet balanced profile - perfect for pairing with complex single malts.

AVO Syncro Caribe

The AVO Syncro Caribe robustly captures the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean with its blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers, an Ecuadorian binder, and a Dominican wrapper. Crafted in the Dominican Republic by Davidoff's OK Cigars factory, this medium to full-bodied cigar delivers a symphony of aromatic spices and complex cocoa, complemented by a subtle sweetness reminiscent of tropical fruits.

Glenmorangie A Tale of Tokyo is a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky that skillfully captures the vibrant essence of Tokyo through its unique aging process in Japanese Mizunara oak, sherry, and bourbon casks. This blend results in a complex flavor profile marked by notes of pepper, bitter cherries, orange zest, incense, and sweet oak, offering a sensory experience as dynamic and rich as the city itself. The whisky's innovative use of Mizunara oak adds a distinctive depth and has earned it a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2023​.

Glenmorangie La Santa is a rich and creamy single malt Scotch whisky, aged initially in bourbon casks before being finished in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This process imparts layers of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and fresh honey to the whisky. On the nose, you can detect aromas of plum, baking spice, milk chocolate raisin, caramel, and toasty oak. The palate offers a mix of tart raspberry coulis, sherried dried fruit, orange marmalade, toasted nuts, and berry jam, accented with sweeter touches of brown sugar and cereal notes.

One of the last spots where New Yorkers can still mix scotch and smoke. New York Magazine captured it perfectly when it wrote, "An air of vintage class pervades this sprawling midtown cigar bar—just what you'd expect from the team responsible for Grand Central's Campbell Apartment."
