About this Event

Louis Armstrong's Black & Blues by Sacha Jenkins (USA, 2022, 104 minutes)

Sacha Jenkins’ Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues looks to reveal a different side of the showman using audio diaries recorded by Armstrong himself. The audio from those tapes and an array of archival footage are the driving forces in composing this complex portrait of the jazz musician. With Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues, Jenkins takes the viewer behind the famous grin of the musician to explore Armstrong's multifaceted experience as a Black American musician.
Director Sacha Jenkins will be joining us via Zoom.
Sacha Jenkins is a New York-based filmmaker who typically makes music-based documentaries that meet at the intersection between the sounds and the climate that created the sounds. He loves his family, animals and long barefoot walks on the beach.
