Storytime at Bookmarks: Kids Vote

Join Bookmarks for a Storytime on Saturday, June 29th at 10:30am in celebration of Book with Purpose.

Doors will open at 10:00am, reading at 10:40am, activities until 12 noon.

Activities include a read aloud, craft activities, and Meet & Greet with Elephant & Piggie. The Forsyth County Board of Elections will lead a voting activity where kids will learn about the voting process through voting for Elephant & Piggy or Daisy & Karl. Voter registration information will also be provided for adults.

This is a free event for all families! Registration is requested.

About Book with Purpose

The Book with Purpose program is a summer initiative that exists to unite the Winston-Salem community in book discussions for all ages centered around one book or central topic. In 2024 the topic is Every Person, Every Vote. The summer will be filled with programs for all ages including talks, voter registration drives, and explorations about the history of voting rights through a variety of perspectives and mediums. Throughout the summer, Bookmarks will host a conversation series on various aspects of voting rights. The Book with Purpose webpage will share a curated list of non-partisan resources, as well as information on this year’s election information and ways to get involved. At this year's Festival of Books and Authors Carol Anderson, will deliver the closing keynote at Clavary Moravian Church at 5:30 pm. About Forsyth County Board of Elections

The Board of Elections is responsible for conducting all elections held in Forsyth County. The Board administers, locally, State election laws. Principal functions include establishing election precincts and voting sites, appointing and training precinct officials, preparing and distributing ballots and voting equipment, canvassing and certifying the ballots cast in elections, and investigating any voting irregularities.
