With decades of experience in media, teaching, and nonprofit leadership, Jack brings practical tools and creative insight to help you elevate how you talk about your work. Whether you're brand new to storytelling or looking to take yours to the next level, this session will leave you inspired, confident, and ready to share your mission in a way that truly resonates.

Workshop Outcomes:

  • KNOW YOUR AUDIENCES: Clarify and better understand your audiences for telling your stories (your messaging) regarding your services, building membership, potential fundraising/donor development, and grant writing.
  • ELEVATOR PITCH: Polish your brief, one-minute elevator pitches to your team, volunteers, users of your services, membership, donors, and grantors.
  • MESSAGING/MARKETING: Understand best practices for social media and traditional media marketing and newsletters.
  • TESTIMONIALS: Craft a strong testimonial for social media, email, or direct mail based on a real person's positive remarks about your nonprofit.
  • PUBLIC RELATIONS: Know how to avoid the pitfalls of dealing with any bad news related to your nonprofit.

Get to know the presenter:

Jack Lucido, M.F.A. is currently working as production manager and producer/director at KEET-PBS in Eureka, California.

Lucido’s Master of Fine Arts degree is from the University of North Carolina Greensboro; his B.A. is from Humboldt State University.

Lucido is currently serving on the board of directors for Hospice of Humboldt.

At Western Colorado University he taught film production and theory courses and served as the Communication Arts, Languages, and Literature Department Chair.

His film, We Don’t Haze, is a documentary advocating against hazing in universities and colleges. It won an Award of Excellence from the Broadcast Education Association.

His documentary, Across the Fence, which focuses on sustainable ranching practices, was screened in several juried film festivals and won an Honorable Mention Award at the International Film Awards in Berlin, Germany.

Jackson Sandwich, Lucido’s documentary about autism spectrum disorders, was awarded the prestigious Cine Golden Eagle Award.
