About this Event
Join TVCC Storytellers and the Therapeutic Recreation team as we explore our emotions and tell our stories using paint and colour. Participants will be guided with questions to create an artwork that is unique to them and their story.
All abilities are encouraged to attend - we will adapt the program as needed to ensure that everyone can participate.
This group will have four dates. During the first three weeks, participants will create their palette and work on their painting. For the final week, our young artists will showcase their artwork during our Art Exhibition with family, friends, and the TVCC community invited to attend.
Through this program, youth will:
- Meet and interact with other TVCC kids
- Learn the steps to create an acrylic painting from start to finish
- Boost their self-confidence through art and creative expression
Participant Criteria:
- TVCC clients aged 8-11
- Able to participate safely in group activities and discussion; participants are welcome to have a support person present to assist them
- Able to independently follow along with a group with or without accommodations
- Interested in painting
What is TVCC Storytellers?
TVCC Storytellers is our TVCC clients who share their message of ability awareness and inclusion through sharing their personal stories of triumphs and tribulations. Our TVCC Storytellers creatively share their stories through different mediums: writing, song, art, speech, there are no limits! Each story is captured in a way to share their message to our community, this may include written publications, media outlets, video or tangible creations.
