Alchemy of Hibernation — In Slowness We GrowStories of light are written in the thick of darkness. Hibernating animals regenerate tissue and recalibrate during winter. Wombs are dark spaces where life forms cell by cell. Seeds germinate underground in complete darkness. Compost breaks down organic matter in darkness, creating fertile soil. Dreams arise in darkness. Initiations often begin in underworld descents.
Our natural world is replete with symbolism of the alchemical nigredo — the blackening — as the first stage of transformation, the wisdom that grows in the darkness and slowness of hibernation.
What is the quiet ferment that happens when we go into an inward space? What stories of light are written in darkness?
Join us for a cosy evening of stories, poems, and reflections on the theme Alchemy of Hibernation: In Slowness We Grow. Perhaps you’ll share a story of retreat, a time when slowness revealed something essential, or a moment of becoming that could only happen in the dark. All expressions of the spoken and written word are welcome in this emerging space.
