When the doors open at 6:45pm, you can sign up to tell a 5–8-minute story based on the theme! When the event starts, and one by one, storytellers take the stage. Stories are scored by teams of judges selected from the audience. Each StorySlam generates a StorySlam winner. The winners of each month’s slam will face off in a GrandSlam in April.
Sign up to tell a story, or just enjoy the show!
How to tell your story at a StorySlam:
Find out the theme of the night.
Craft your story!
Practice so you can remember it, but also feel free to use some notes at first. Then practice it so you can keep it down to 5-8 minutes. Revise. Rework. Revamp. Finesse. Try again. Keep going. The goal is to improve – not for perfection.
Contestants are judged on sticking to the 5-8 time frame, sticking to the theme and having a story that has a conflict and a resolution.
StorySlam Dates & Themes:
Dec. 13 - Season Greetings: Stories of the Holidays
Jan. 10 - Camouflage: Stories of Hidden Selves
Feb 28 - Object of Desire: Stories of Things We Hold Dear
