Join us for ArtsUp SC's inaugural Storyline Series event, 'New Chapters,' on Friday, August 22, at 7:30 pm at Fernwood Baptist Church in Spartanburg. This one-night-only performance brings together bold, boundary-pushing artists for an evening of poetry, dance, and music anchored by words from famed Southern author Harper Lee, and her novel "To K*ll a Mockingbird".
The evening will feature:
• Original poetry by Marlanda Dekine – Hub City Press author, Poet Laureate of Georgetown County Libraries, and social justice advocate.
• Genre-blending dance from:
o EnbyBallet – redefining classical ballet with queer representation.
o Columbia Repertory Dance Company – championing collaboration and local talent.
o Moving Body Dance Company – masters of improvisational, experimental performance.
• Live music by acclaimed pianist Dr. Steven Graff, known for his expressive and dynamic artistry.
A portion of ticket sales will benefit Uplift Outreach Center, a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ youth in the Upstate. Learn more at upliftoutreachcenter.org.
