About this Event

The Cobb County Water System invites you to a meeting to learn more about its proposed Stormwater Utility Fee and why additional revenue is needed for stormwater.

The Water System currently charges for stormwater through water and sewer fees. The Water System is proposing to change to charging for stormwater based on the amount of impervious surface on a property, and the revenue would be put in a dedicated stormwater fund.'

All properties (commercial, schools, churches, non-profits, homes, etc.) would be charged the fee, as they are already paying a stormwater fee through water & sewer charges. The Water System only provides stormwater services in unincorporated Cobb County and the city of Mableton, so the proposed fee does not apply to properties in the cities of Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Powder Springs, Marietta, or Smyrna. In fact, Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Powder Springs, and Smyrna are already charging properties for stormwater based on the amount of impervious surface.

Whether you own or lease your facility, you should be aware of the proposal. Please join Water System Director Judy Jones and other nonprofit leaders to learn more.

Information about the Water System’s proposed change in billing for stormwater is provided in the attached documents. Additional information, including FAQs, past presentations, and draft code amendments, can be found on their website at www.cobbcounty.org/swfunding.
