Learn how to keep pollution out of our streams and rivers! The Office of Sustainability and Resilience (OSR) and its Greensboro Sustainable Landscapes Project will host a speaker series, starting with Stormwater 101, 6-7 pm, May 22, at Gateway Gardens, 2800 E. Gate City Blvd. This program is free.
Water that washes into storm drains collects pollutants as it travels. It does not enter a wastewater treatment system before entering our local creeks, rivers, and, eventually, into the ocean. In this session, the City of Greensboro's Water Resources Department Public Education Coordinator, Laine Roberts, will explain the six primary sources of pollution in our waterways and how you can be a part of the solution. Plus, she'll share some DIY stormwater solutions for your yard. This program is ideal for individual residents, homeowner associations, businesses, or neighborhood groups.
The Greensboro Sustainable Landscapes Project is an educational initiative led OSR in partnership with other City Departments and community partners to encourage residents to use environmentally friendly landscaping practices to enhance the natural environments in and around their homes and businesses.
