Fresh off the release of their 5th record POSTHUMAN, Belgian post-sludge quintet Stories from the Lost have transformed into a darker, heavier and bleaker version of their former post-rock self, one that fully channels the band’s atmospheric and progressive elements and perfectly balances them with more angular and punchy stoner ones, cunningly capturing a mood more than a specific sound. Aptly titled “Posthuman” the album was the sonic transposition of the state we are increasingly finding ourselves in, surrounded by ever-intrusive technologies and dystopian landscapes. Grim times ahead is the title of the film this album scores in 40 minutes of tortuous and bludgeoning atmospherics, and trance-inducing lyricism. Rhazes began as an instrumental bedroom project by All We Expected guitarist Guillian and only blossomed into a full-fledged post-metal band after crossing paths with drummer Ben. A couple of jamming sessions later they joined forces with Pieter-Jan (guitar), Nicolas (bass) and Benjamin (vocals).
Their music, marked by dynamic shifts between heavy riffs and melodic passages, takes listeners on an emotional journey through the highs and lows of the human experience.
