Meet the Authors of Bike Magic, OK
Seth Wood and Ariel Ross aren’t originally from Oklahoma, but it’s the place they now call home— thanks in large part to the community they’ve found through cycling.
They met as graduate students in Atlanta, GA, eloped without telling anyone, and now, nearly 20 years later, they have two kids and have been teaching at Oklahoma State University for over a decade. Both scholars of literature and lovers of writing, they bring unique but complementary perspectives to this co-authored work.
Ariel’s deep connection to Oklahoma has led her to engage in Native-led environmental activism, run for public office and serve in multiple municipal roles. She weaves a strong land ethic into everything she writes.
Seth’s relationship with cycling took a dramatic turn after nearly being killed by a car his first year in Oklahoma. Since then, he has embraced endurance cycling, taking him to some of the most remote and breathtaking parts of the country.
Having read and edited each other’s work for years, Bike Magic, OK will be their first co-authored project since the love letters that sparked their elopement—making this book a deeply personal journey for them both.
