About this Event
In this workshop we will explore our local environment, collect objects from it, and then come together to tell interconnected stories about the world around us. If you like the environment and collaborative storytelling, then this workshop is for you!
We’ll start in the Ellen Wilkinson Building, then head outside to collect objects before returning indoors to examine them closely - focusing on texture, movement, and sensory details while setting aside prior knowledge. Using these observations, we’ll choose one object and re-imagine its story, inventing new origins, purposes, or identities.
Next, we’ll shift to collaborative storytelling, passing our stories along for others to continue, creating a larger, entangled narrative. Finally, we’ll create a collective object collage, arranging our found objects intuitively without discussion. This silent collaboration will form a group artwork, offering creative way to reframe our materials.
This is a chance to engage with the material world differently, practice writing and analysis, and have fun with collaborative storytelling. No prior experience is needed - just bring your curiosity!
The workshop will be facilitated by Teodora Noszkay, a PhD student at the University of Manchester.
