About this Event

Join us in celebrating the 5th anniversary of StopHDV’s successful campaign to block a catastrophic regeneration project known as the ‘Haringey Development Vehicle’.

The Haringey Development Vehicle was a proposed 50/50 partnership deal between Haringey council and the property developer Lendlease. It would have seen hundreds of homes demolished to make way for new flats, displacing the existing community and forging a path for intensified gentrification in the area. Through the hard work of brilliant campaigners, the deal was turned around and on the 17th of July 2018 the council rejected the proposal.

In the face of a snowballing housing crisis and Lendlease’s continued efforts to gentrify London — most recently, Elephant and Castle — the StopHDV campaign serves as a reminder of what resistance and community action can achieve.

To commemorate the anniversary, Cut-Through Collective will be hosting a community-led event at The Lordship Recreation Hub in Tottenham on September 2nd. The event will be an afternoon of music, performances and talks about housing justice struggles past and present. It will also hold a tribute to the late Phil Jackson, remembered by many as one of the StopHDV campaign’s key figures.
