They heard us in February, but they need to know we aren't going anywhere. At the February school board meeting, parents told SPS that Hicap services are not equitably available to all students. In some schools the only available services are funded by the PTA. In others, teachers have been explicitly forbidden from providing content at the levels students need. Many on the Board agreed, and demanded that the District present a plan to implement Hicap services in ALL neighborhood schools. A plan that was supposed to have already been implemented before the cohort schools were phased out, but Board members admitted doesn't even exist.
Join us to tell them: stop sunsetting the cohort schools until there is a proven alternative in all neighborhood schools, and enroll a 2nd grade HCC class next year.
Bring signs!
No neighborhood services = no sunset of HCC
Hicap services are legally mandated!
