Course Details:
Launched in October of 2015 by the White House, Stop the Bleed is a national training course, awareness campaign and a call to action. Stop the Bleed is designed and intended to encourage all bystanders to become trained and equipped to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.
No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, so quickly stopping the bleeding is critical. Those nearest to someone with life threatening injuries are best positioned to provide immediate care if they are equipped with the appropriate training and resources.
Training Objective:
To teach students how to save lives by teaching them proper methods to stop a person from dying from a massive hemorrhage. Students will lean how to pack wounds and use tourniquets. Students will train on realistic training simulators. Students will receive a Stop The Bleed Certificate at the completion of the course.
About the Instructor:
Casey Machon (RN/BSN) has served in the field of nursing, both in the E.R. and the O.R. for nearly 20 years, and has dedicated her life to helping others and saving lives through her extensive experience, background and studies in the field of medicine. Casey is the very first health care professional to offer Stop The Bleed classes in Rapid City. We are honored to have her with us.
