If you’ve ever wondered what laid the groundwork for the racial inequities in the Rochester region today and how we can pave the path for a better future, come join us at 7 pm Friday, Feb. 7, in the sanctuary at Spiritus Christi Church, 121 N. Fitzhugh St., Rochester. Suggested donation is $25. Proceeds go to the Minister Franklin D. Florence Civil Rights Heritage Park.
We will view and discuss “The Unattainable Dream: Redlining in Rochester, NY,” by students and teachers at Edison Tech, along with “July ’64,” by filmmaker Carvin Eison. Efforts to fix racial inequities are being rolled back at the federal level, with the recent executive orders of the incoming administration. Years of progress, are starting to crumble. These new executive orders represent a deliberate attempt to undo progress on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and create new barriers to opportunity. However, we are stronger and more equipped to push back and advocate for racial justice -- when we know what our history is and why we are being called to this work as a parish and people of faith who follow Jesus.
