Join amateur historian Doug Munro for a guided history tour along the Stony Run Trail which used to be the tracks of the Ma & Pa RailroadDid you know that:
· there were once two coal depots in the Roland Park area — Cold Spring Lane and Lawndale Road — and that a remnant of the rail signal for one of them is still in place?
· for many years, there was a lumber yard where the Evergreen meadow is now?
· Stony Run used to flow to the immediate east of Wyndhurst Station (then Notre Dame Station), not to its west , as is does now?
· there used to be three “lakes” — ponds, really — between Wyndhurst and Cold Spring?
· transporting building blocks from Pennsylvania for the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in 1958 was the Ma & Pa’s last large contract before closing the Maryland portion of the line?
Come learn about these thing and more. Proceeds support stewardship of Stony Run.
All registrants will receive a paper map at the walk and supplemental materials in PDF format.
