About this Event
Welcome to Stone Soup at Vaughan's Lounge! Join us for a cozy evening of good food and great company at the iconic Vaughan's Lounge. Each evening will include a variety of snacks from Oaxaca, specials on mezcal and beer, a screening and Q&A of our award winning film, a cooking demonstration, and a serving of the famous Stone Soup served with mouthwatering quesadillas, salsa de molcajete, dessert, and lots of love.
Invited guests include Sarah Borealis of Banda Ancha Productions (Mexico City), Arturo Aguilar of Aberracion Optica (Mexico City) Victor and Sem Gachupin Velasco of the family restaurant Caldo de Piedra (Oaxaca), and Lance Nacio of Anna Marie Seafood (Montegut, Louisiana).
Schedule:
5:00pm: Doors open, drink specials and snacks from Oaxaca
6:00pm: Chefs Victor and Sem heat the sacred stones and describe the history of the pre-hispanic recipe
6:45pm:Thank you/acknowledgement of sponsors and special guests
7:00: Intro to the event and the film by Victor and Sem Gachupin and Sarah Borealis
7:20: Film Screening
7:45: Soup demo and first seating of 25 at community tables, family style
8:45: Soup demo and second seating of 25 at community tables, family style
10:00: Event wraps, guests are invited to stay and enjoy the jukebox, drink specials, and to chat with the visiting artists
