The folktale of stone soup goes like this: There was once a famine in the village, and the people were hungry. A small number of villagers gathered together, built a fire, and filled a large pot with water. Then they added a single stone to the soup. More curious villagers stopped by, and asked what they were doing. They replied, "We are making stone soup! It is very tasty. Do you have anything to add?" Slowly, more and more people brought their offerings to the pot. Cabbage! Carrots! Beets! Onions! Garlic! Potatoes! Soon, the pot was bubbling over and smelled delightful. The villagers enjoyed a delicious meal and were hungry no more!
Let us honor the uplifting message of this folklore by creating our own stone soup. Bring what you have to share. I will provide the pots and the broth. I will have disposable bowls and spoons, but please try to bring your own. Everyone is welcome! The more, the merrier!
We are stronger (and less hungry) together! <3
