‘Jazz at Jamison’ welcomes back celebrated boogie-woogie queen and vocalist Carolyn Packer and her band the Stompin’ Rhythm Aces. This fun band draws its influences from a wide variety of styles – New Orleans jazz, early blues, boogie-woogie, swing and gypsy jazz – guaranteed to get the party swinging!
Carolyn hails from the Central Coast and she is a highly engaging and captivating performer. She welcomes every opportunity to play with her Sydney-based band, the Stompin’ Rhythm Aces.
The band is comprised of some of Sydney’s most experienced jazz musicians. Joining Carolyn in Canberra will be Greg Englert on trumpet & vocals, David Ridyard on sax & clarinet, Jim Fletcher on drums, Cameron Jones on his gypsy jazz guitar and replacing regular bassist Ed Rapo on this occasion will be local Anthony Irving.
Carolyn has recorded three critically acclaimed albums, two of those with the Stompin’ Rhythm Aces, “Sweet Substitute” and “There’ll Be Some Changes Made.” The band threads traditional jazz and blues sounds with a driving swing, bringing a freshness and vitality to each song.
