Just some information about this extra meet . We will have a stand in the Village hall where the throw down will occur ST10 4AP. Parking at the village hall will be restricted and parking in Alton is a little ‘grab where you can’ because many parts of the village were built before cars were a thing. As long as you avoid the main route through the village so the Alton Towers traffic can flow easily then park where ever doesn’t have the usual road marking restrictions and the maps below give some suggestions. Even those living in the village abandon their cars where they can. Oh wait…that’s just me 🫢 anyway, below is a small map about interesting spots and some of my annotated maps to help you locate them. We will throw down at 1 pm at the village hall and meet there at 11 as stalls are being set up for the ‘fayre’. I would try to hit the village between 10:30 and 11 as before that you may get caught in the towers traffic then leave before 4:30 when everyone in the universe is leaving Alton towers 😂 The road from Cheadle through threapwood to Alton is less busy than Uttoxeter to Alton where towers traffic may be backed up. However this road is a typical country road frequented by hot hatch drivers who don’t drive as well in real life as they do in their head and then there are the delightful tractors doing their thing ❤️❤️❤️The high street has some lovely doorways, there are two churches in that direction, St Peter’s and The Catholic one that is pictured and on the maps and looks like a Disney castle with a very interesting Puginesque roof. Food will be served at the village hall and there are numerous pubs with the White Hart being the community owned pub and the Bulls Head which is lovely inside. The Talbot Inn down by the bridge is a delight too. The village is hilly in places. The group may want to decant to one of these anyway as drawing in Alton afternoon light is fab. Hope this helps.
