About this Event
Trent Valley Past & Present is a two-year cultural heritage project taking place in the Staffordshire Trent Valley, which is exploring the millennia-long relationship between people and the landscapes of the River Trent and its tributaries. Through hands-on archaeology, historical research, and the sharing of local folklore, stories and history, individuals and groups will discover new ways to interpret and celebrate their shared past.
Join us to learn more about the project, the tradition of coppicing, and using hazel sticks in Border Morris dancing, while tidying up a stretch of over 200 year old canal that has played a significant part in local industrial development by facilitating the transport of goods such as pottery, coal and salt.
We will meet outside the Civic Centre on Glebe Street then head down onto the canal at Wharf Place, and take a right to head south down the towpath in the direction of City Road.
All tools and equipment will be provided, please dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear.
