Are you ready!?Stoke turns 100!
There’ll be many events and parades coming up this year but it wouldn’t be right if there wasn’t one to celebrate Stoke’s dance music scene and the city’s rich history of its clubs, events and venues and the city’s DJs that have helped carry the torch over the last 50 years along with a very special guest!
Our special guest of course is UK DJ royalty. Norman Jay MBE is not only one of the most experienced black music DJ’s this country has but he’s synonymous with the Notting Hill Carnival with his Good Times Soundsystem which makes him the perfect choice for this very special once in a lifetime party. Many locals will remember him as a Golden regular in its earlier years and has returned to stoke a few times since then with gigs at Satchmos and for The Move at The Exchange.
Speaking of black music legends, we genuinely don’t think there’s anyone more revered in the UK than our very own Colin Curtis. His 50+ year career has seen him influence almost anyone who’s anyone with many DJ’s such as Greg Wilson and Giles Peterson name checking him as ‘the UK’s David Mancuso’ and ‘the UK’s most important DJ in the blueprint of modern day club culture’
Enough has been said already over recent years about the inimitable Pete Bromley. Pete has been ‘Mr House Music’ for so many over the last 30+ years with him residing at all the city’s main and most influential club nights. A feat that is unlikely to ever be surpassed. A true vinyl addict and connoisseur, Pete’s dance collection rivals the world’s greatest house DJs bar none.
Kelvin Andrews is arguably one of the city’s most respected DJ’s, recognized by many industry figures and music lovers alike as a DJs DJ. Kelvin did so much for early Stoke club culture with his DJing and production along with his brother and has for 3+ decades exported his unique talents to the rest of the UKs major city’s and beyond. A DJ we can be truly proud of.
Lee Fredericks started out with very humble beginnings in the early 90s Rave explosion performing alongside DJ Daz Willott, mainly at the likes of Shelley’s & Entropy in Longton. After years of DJing, promoting and organizing, he made a mark at the now legendary Satchmos for a decade and has for the last 25+ years brought every major DJ and dance music artist to the City to play to keep the dance music flag flying in Stoke on Trent.
Over the last 20 years Matt Erst has played at more dance music events in Stoke on Trent than probably any other DJ. The sheer volume of gigs he’s warmed up has made the ever present DJ a much loved staple in the Stoke on Trent clubbing scene and that shows no signs of stopping.
Joey T is one of Stokes most exciting DJ prospects and is proving to be incredibly successful on all fronts. His music production is garnering recognition that is equalling his DJ exploits. Plying his trade in Manchester, he’s quickly becoming one of the city’s most respected new talents and can be found playing alongside the likes of Luke Una at some of the most talked about parties the city has seen in recent times…
So all are welcome on Saturday 7th June. Bring the family, it’s a free all day and night long event. (You might wanna send the kids home when it goes dark) 😜
Free afterparty also at The Underground!
Pray for good weather! Epic scenes incoming! 🙌🏼❤️🤍
