Stockport Scream Club - Heaton Norris Park

Scream club is a global community movement that started in Chicago, where people gather to release stress and pent-up emotions through collective vocal expression, often involving screaming. Participants typically perform a structured ritual that includes breathing exercises and guided screams, and build a sense of community by offering a cathartic, free alternative to traditional therapy. The movement emphasises emotional release, healing, and human connection.

• Origin: The movement began in Chicago as a personal stress-relief habit for founders Manny Hernandez and Elena Soboleva, which grew after strangers joined them in screaming into Lake Michigan.
• Purpose: Scream Club isn’t just people shouting into the void - it’s a structured process we guide people through, including a three-scream release designed to help the body let go of built-up tension and stress. Whether it's laughter, shaking, breathwork or a primal scream, the body knows how to release what it’s holding if we give it permission. That’s the heart of all our work: making wellbeing accessible, down-to-earth, and not wrapped in jargon or perfection.
• Who are we?: We are a community of communities and we are tired. The landscape in our community sector is fraught and we are coming together to regroup and release. Just real people navigating this shit show of reality together and feeling better for learning different tips and techniques on how to change the body's physiology to work for us not against us.

Info: A few breaths then go through a 3 scream process. Trauma release shaking and then another 3 screams. Followed by freestyle screams - let loose as little or as much as you want. Ending with a grounding exercise.
