Narrative Textile CollageSundays, October 26th and November 9th
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
These are single-session classes.
Join us for a special workshop series where fiber and fabric become the mediums for creating visual stories. Through hands-on textile arts, we will create and share personal visual narratives crafting textiles that are imbued with intention and meaning. This series also offers a space for a unique connection as we come together to share stories and engage in communal acts of artistic creation.
During each session we will experiment with conventional textile techniques in unconventional ways. These include machine sewing and hand stitching; fabric manipulation and deconstruction, embellishing, dyeing, stencil bleaching, image transfer, gelli printing, and painting techniques. If you participated in our previous classes, you will have the opportunity to bring your creations back to the studio for more manipulation, embellishing and support to create a finished piece, whether that be a wall hanging, journal cover, or βpatchβ for a tote bag or garment.
Bring Your Stories:
This series encourages you to bring artifacts with history. These objects will serve as metaphors for different moments in your life and help inform your artwork. Participants are encouraged to bring:
A photograph that holds personal significance
Old clothes, meaningful fabrics, or any items that represent a part of your journey
Phrases, words, or symbols that have a deep connection to your identity or experiences
We encourage you to bring an item or symbol that speaks to your sense of community and connection. If you are making a gift for someone special in your life, think about what imagery may speak to them or your connection.
All materials and instructions are provided. No experience necessary!
Each class is limited to 20 people.
