Have you ever thought you have a story to tell, but not necessarily on paper? The History Center is thrilled to partner with local fiber artist, Meta Van Nostran, for a seven-week free workshop sponsored by the Ohio Arts Council.
The adventure will begin with a trunk showing of textiles and the histories they tell on Tuesday, August 20 from 10:00 to 12:00 PM. This event is open to everyone, not just individuals interested in the Stitching Stories Workshop.
During the next seven weeks, participants will select their own fabrics, and work with colors and patterns to collage an experience, moment, or task. Embellish your design with free-form embroidery and quilt it into a narrative. The finished work will be displayed at the Southeast Ohio History Center.
All skill levels will enjoy this innovative process to record history. Materials and supplies are provided, however, participants may want to use some of their own personal fabrics, threads, and stitching supplies.
Workshops will take place at the History Center on Tuesday, August 27, September 3, September 10, September 17, and September 24 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and October 8 and October 15 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
