Learn how to add a personal touch to your wardrobe through the art of hand embroidery! Join me for my beginner-friendly workshop, where you will learn five different embroidery stitches and how to apply them to a garment of your choice - no experience necessary! You will need to bring an item of clothing/accessory to embroider or add on a tote bag at checkout.
If you bring a garment of your own, it should be something without stretch to make your life easier - think dungarees, a cotton or denim shirt, a baseball cap, a tote bag, a pair of jeans etc. If you're looking to embroider something with pockets, the pocket should be big enough to get your hand in to sew (I managed this with my dungarees) or you should be prepared to take the pocket off and re-attach it once you've embroidered it. Jersey t-shirts can be tricky to stitch but we can make it work if you're desperate to!
If you're unsure what to bring, you can add a tote bag to your ticket for an extra ÂŁ5.
Come along with a friend for a fun upcycling date, or come alone - it's a friendly environment, I promise.
Your ticket includes one Stitch Your Clothes embroidery kit per person, plus the thread needed to make one design in your choice of colours. This means you will leave with everything you need to finish your design, plus seven extra stick-on patches (you'll just need to buy some more thread but I will advice on this). We will be using the design in the event image during the workshop, however, this can be cut up and placed as you wish!
đź’— No experience necessary đź’—
In this 2.5 hour workshop you will learn the basics of hand embroidery, including essential hints and tips, how to set up your embroidery, a selection of embroidery stitches and how to finish off your garment ready to wear.
Whilst we won't finish our projects during the class, you will learn all stitches and techniques used, and leave with full instructions and everything you need to finish the project at home.
Full embroidery kit included, which contains fabric printed with the design ready to stitch over, all needed thread, needle, embroidery hoop and easy to follow instructions. Scissors will be available to borrow on the evening and a selection will be for sale on the night.
My workshops are a very safe, inclusive space. Don't feel like you have to bring a friend, there is always people on their own and it's cool if you want a chat or work quietly on your own. Everyone is welcome đź’ś
