Supported by Sit Down Comedy Club brings comedy to Ipswich in the monthly Stitch in the ‘swich series.
This month features Ashwin Segkar, Georgina Humphries, Jack Knight, and Kat Davidson!
Ashwin Segkar
Ashwin started his comedy career as a writer, producing comedy cartoon, Boymongoose, that went on to attract over 10 million views online and was featured on TV and radio internationally.
Having been born in India, but dragged through a childhood covering New Zealand, Malaysia, England and Australia, his comedy touches on cultural issues with an often absurd take. His style is slightly dry with elements of physical comedy.
He was a Raw Comedy state finalist following a year of stand up gigs and has performed in country pubs, inner city bars, office parties and political events, adapting to a wide range of audiences. He also recently had spots performing alongside Steady Eddy, Jimeoin and Matt Okine.
Ashwin also performs sketch and musical comedy with a Brisbane production company.
With his cultural background and with the help of some language for dummies books, he’s planning on touring more through Asia and Europe in the future.
Georgina Humphries
Georgina has been making her mark on the Brisbane comedy scene and is determined to put her small rural town of Millaa Millaa on the map.
She has become a regular at the Sit Down Comedy Club in Brisbane and has appeared numerous times on ABC Radio Brisbane as a guest panelist.
Performing at several comedy shows each week, Georgina is passionate about bringing tales of small town life and rural antics to city crowds during her time on stage.
After qualifying for the State Finals of Triple J’s Class Clowns in 2015 and later being selected as a semi-finalist for RAW Comedy Queensland, Georgina realised that the life of a chicken farmer wasn’t her destiny.
Daughter of a fourth generation dairy, she traded in her gumboots for a microphone and moved to the city in 2016.
Stories about being bucked off buffaloes and rounding up prize chickens, are great fodder for her on stage act, giving her plenty to ‘crow’ about!
Her unwavering love of chickens and passion for telling small town stories to big city audiences, has led to her being referred to as the “Spring Chicken” of the Brisbane comedy scene.
As the famous saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child and the small town of Millaa Millaa to raise this up-and-coming comedian.”
Jack Knight
You ever seen a man’s brain backfire like a Datsun 120Y on stage? Because that’s what Jack Knight’s comedy is.
Jack is a deranged soup-drinking maniac in the middle of a crisis that would make Chernobyl blush harder than Japan being reminded of Nanjing.
Having supported the likes of Mel Buttle, Sam Campbell, and Dan Rath, Jack Knight has cemented himself early into cult comedian status, and is admired amongst his peers as one of Australian comedy’s most unique emerging voices.
Catch him on stage before he drives a Ford Falcon into the Barrier Reef and is never seen again.
Kat Davidson
Kat Davidson has 27 years of comedy experience, which is impressive when you realise she’s only 32 (maths may vary). A veteran of the Australian and international comedy scene, Kat is known for her whip-smart wit, warm storytelling, and the rare ability to switch comedy gears faster than an F1 driver – though she’ll admit Oscar Piastri might just have her beat. He’s currently the only Australian with a quicker gear change (but she’s got better banter).
Kat has performed everywhere from cruise ships to comedy clubs to corporate boardrooms, bringing the same energy whether she’s in high heels or steel caps. A regular host on ABC Radio, a coach in corporate comms, and someone who has held her own alongside comedy greats like Tom Gleeson and Steven Wright, Kat’s comedy is as versatile as it is sharp.
She’s also a trusted corporate host for award nights, gala events, and conferences – effortlessly blending her comedy chops, seasoned interview skills, and the ability to craft sharp, original material tailored to each client. Whether she’s making CEOs laugh or keeping a 500-person room on track, Kat brings brains, polish, and punchlines.
