The Yoga Sutras is an ancient text with very modern implications about how to practice being present. How to quiet the monkey mind. How to notice our tendencies that lead to anxiety and rumination. And how we can choose a path of freedom and happiness. We will explore some of the sutras (a sanskrit word that translates to sutures or stitches - the ideas that hold the concept of yoga together) that apply to our daily lives and common patterns. This exploration will be through discussion, a slow flow vinyasa practice, and then meditation.
Personally, the sutras have become my psychology. How I view my mental disturbances and how to overcome them on a path to more peace. I bring to the table a desire and ability to make these teachings accessible and even fun - as laughter is certainly the best medicine! The teachings of the Yoga Sutras are especially relative during these times of challenge in which many of us find ourselves.
The path to peace is not to ignore the obstacles to peace. But to see them, learn from them and then discern our next right choice. I hope you will join me for this exploration.
