About this Event
Come hang out with us! We have reserved the classroom at Fort Worth Camera for our next meetup. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow film enthusiasts, share tips, and explore new ideas. There will be several stations available for those who would like to try still-life photography. We will draw our inspiration from the work of Edward Weston. The objects available for photography will depend on what participants bring to share. So bring something interesting!
Edward Weston was an American photographerand amaster of still life photography. His manipulation of light to emphasize shape, texture, and form helped bring photography out of the shadow ofpainting, establishing it as a credible art form in its own right. Known for his modernist style, Weston was one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century. One of the most iconic modernist images is Weston's "Pepper No.30". This image, along with his other still lifes, "contributed greatly to the evolution of photography as a modernist artform."(Holden Luntz). Otherwell-known still life works by Weston include "Cabbage Leaf" and "Shells." Using his large-format camera, he sought to capture the essence of the subject he photographed.
"This then: to photograph a rock, have it look like a rock but be more that a rock" - Edward Weston.
