About this course

This course is designed for learners of all levels who wish to explore the versatile medium of acrylic paint to create stunning paintings. Whether you're a beginner eager to learn the basics or an experienced artist looking to refine your skills, this course offers a comprehensive and hands-on approach to still life painting in a contemporary style.

Guided by an experienced tutor, you will learn to blend and mix colours, create striking compositions, and use brushstrokes that convey movement and vitality. Our focus on a fresh and contemporary style will inspire you to break away from traditional methods and experiment with bold, expressive forms and a vibrant palette.

Artist research and examples of contemporary still life paintings
Practice colour mixing to achieve a vibrant palette
Surface preparation and sketching
Painting techniques: layering, impasto and glazing
Complete a painting on canvas
Protect your painting by varnishing it

Please Bring:

Acrylic / Watercolor paper/sketch pad, white gesso, a range of synthetic paint brushes, photo reference, metallic palette knife, acrylic paint:
Red (Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red,
Yellow (Lemon and Cadmiun Yellow),
Blue (Ultramarine, and Cerulean),
Magenta , Turquoise, Titanium white

The art materials are to be discussed during the first session of the course when the tutor will cover the topic.
