About this Event
On this course you will learn to develop techniques, concepts and practices using drawing, painting and multi media to create your own still life paintings.
The course will consist of a series of practical exercises with individual tutoring, group discussion and reflections.
Week One
The mimetic approach. Considering how different artists throughout the world have approached the subject of still life, past and present. What can we learn from them?
Week Two
The objective approach. Training the brain to see like an artist. Practical ideas for beginning and developing a piece of work.
Week Three
The expressive approach. Experimentation and the use of instinct. How artists can combine all approaches to enrich their own practices.
Materials
We will provide basic materials and paper but please bring your own if you are wanting to use specific media. This could be any combination of water based media, for example: acrylic, ink, charcoal, pastel, gouache, watercolour, pens, pencils, graphite, wallpaper (for collage).
Experiance Level: Beginner with basic drawing and painting skills
Please note each session will begin at 10:30am and finish at 1pm each Saturday for 3 weeks.
