About this Event
This Saturday we will be going to Bethpage State Park to work in the Nature Discovery Garden. We will gather at 9:00am and work until 11:00am. There is no pressure to stay for the full length of the event!
This Program is available for all ages.
This was the same garden we worked on under the direction of the horticulturalists Victor and Alexa since 2022. Some seasoned volunteers might remember how we slowly but steadily transformed this overgrown patch of invasive shrubbery into a beautiful and educational garden for the nearby elementary school to use. This garden has reached the same point as the Friendship Garden at Bayard, which now only requires occasional visits from us to keep the invasive plant population in check!
We will be removing English ivy, as well as any other invasive plants that we can identify throughout the garden grounds. Since we will be working at the same time as the Bethpage Garden Club, we will meet at their time: 9:00am and work until 11:00am.
