What do you get when Perth's powerhouse singers and blisteringly hot musicians come together to perform one of the greatest albums ever produced?
A critical and commercial success; the Diamond-certified, multi-Grammy-award-winning, "Songs In The Key Of Life", came fourth in Rolling Stone’s 2020 list of Greatest Albums Of All Time.
Released late 1976, Stevie Wonder’s groundbreaking double album was only the third American album to enter the charts at number one. It stayed there for 13 consecutive weeks, longer than any other artist that year. Based on worldwide sales, it was 1976’s second best-selling album after Eagles’ Hotel California, which went on to be the third best-selling album of all time. Songs In The Key Of Life battled with Hotel California for supremacy at the start of 1977, only to be eclipsed by Fleetwood Mac’s behemoth, Rumours, replacing them both at the top of the charts.
Covering a diverse array of styles, from R&B, soul and funk to pop, world and jazz fusion, Songs… topped both the pop and RnB charts. Its string of hits have stood the test of time, being covered by pop artists and sampled by hip hop artists alike.
