About this Event

Steve Dreyer is a fine art photographer based in New York City and Eastern Long Island. He has worked with traditional film and digital processing for over 30 years. He speaks and writes passionately about composing what he calls “Urbanscapes” – images of and inside cities, landscapes, and street photographs. He also creates composites, in which he combines multiple images that reflect his artistic vision of a scene, real or imagined.

The “Urbanscapes” series of photographs have a special, non-photographic painterly feel to them. They are created by composing a photograph and then adding texture using a digital “pen” on a drawing tablet. The printing technique employs archival pigment inks on textured paper to add a special look and feel to the images. Dreyer’s Central Park and Paris images are part of his “Studies in Black and White” series, which have appeared in national and online photography magazines.

Dreyer’s work is regularly shown in group, solo, and juried exhibits including the Artists Alliance of East Hampton, the Works Gallery and Gallery 71 in New York City, and the Upstream Gallery in Hastings, New York. He is a contributor to photography publications and enjoys educating groups and individuals. Dreyer is affiliated with several important arts organizations, including the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP). In 2018 he served as a judge for the respected Armonk Art Show (recently selected as the second-best art show in the US).
