Jazz guitar giant Steve Brown hits the Deep Dive stage on Friday December 27th, with his new quartet, featuring Dino Losito on electric piano, Mike Melito on drums, and Miles Brown on bass. Steve has been playing guitar since 1957. His musical knowledge is encyclopedic and his experience is quite literally epic. He has appeared on over 40 album projects, and counting, with artists including Chuck Mangione, Sal Nistico, Nick Brignola, John Stowell, Bobby Keller, Danny D'Imperio, and Chuck Israels. He has performed internationally with Ray Charles, Barry Harris, Jimmy Smith, Paquito D’Rivera, Phil Woods, Xavier Cugat, Charo, and many many others.
Steve’s father, Glenn Brown is known as one of the founding fathers of jazz education in the US starting in the 1940s. Following in his father’s footsteps, Steve created the Jazz Studies program at his alma mater, Ithaca College, and ran it for 40 years, before retiring in 2008.
Tickets are $8 in advance, or $15 day of show. Music from 6 to 8pm. The evening will be recorded for release as a live album. Get here and get hip!
