In Depression-era Chicago five upstanding church ladies—Miss Henrietta Sister Ruth Reverend Grace Miss Ethel and the bold Tracyada—are dedicated to raising funds for young Black women to attend college despite the challenges of a prejudiced society. Their typical efforts involve bake sales and car washes but when their request for a loan to fund another scholarship is cruelly denied by a White bank manager Tracyada proposes a shocking solution: robbing the bank. Reluctantly the ladies agree and with Tracyada’s daring plan in place they set out to pull off the heist. But what begins as a ridiculous and suspenseful adventure quickly escalates into something far more unpredictable testing their courage and their bonds.
