About this Event

and his band-- Josh Kaye on guitar, Ari Folman-Cohen on bass, and Nick Anderson on drums—will be joined by Nick Driscoll on tenor sax/clarinet and acclaimed improvisational pianist, Jean-Michel Pilc in celebration of the release of a triptych --3 CDs Phase I, II and III-- that he recorded in collaboration with Pilc. The collection includes new compositions by both Wrembel and Pilc.

Wrembel comments, “This triptych is a tale about the great human journey; three albums forming a whole, a representation of a journey of a human life. This project is the most representative of my inner world, a mirror of my soul. I am very fortunate to be working with some of the greatest musicians on earth.”

Stephane Wrembel, recognized as one of the preeminent guitarists globally, specializes in the style of Django Reinhardt. With a career spanning the globe, he has released 18 albums under his own name and "The Django Experiment." His most recent, Django New Orleans, debuted in May 2023. Notably, Wrembel's original compositions have graced films such as "Midnight in Paris," "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," and "Rifkin’s Festival," with "Midnight in Paris" earning a Grammy Award® for "Best Compilation Soundtrack," which included his composition "Bistro Fada." Wrembel has shared the stage with iconic artists like Elvis Costello, Patti Smith, The Roots, Medeski Martin & Wood, Sam Bush, David Grisman and many more. His annual music festival, "Django A Gogo," has gained global recognition as a premier event celebrating Django Reinhardt's music.
Jean-Michel Pilc, acclaimed for his improvisational prowess, is a pianist and composer with a distinguished career. He has performed alongside jazz legends worldwide, served as the musical director and pianist for Harry Belafonte, and engaged in memorable duets with opera singer Jessye Norman. Pilc has released several recordings with his trio and gained acclaim as a solo performer, with five critically acclaimed solo piano records. Currently residing in Montreal, he is a member of the Jazz Faculty at The Schulich School of Music of McGill University.
