Please Note: STEP courses are specifically designed for trainers, horse owners, and riders. This program does not accommodate equine veterinarians or therapists, as it focuses on developing training skills through natural observation and horsemanship practices.
Course Structure:
Each month includes:
1 Private Lesson – 1 hour (individual focus)
1 Group Lecture – 2 hours (theory and discussion)
2 Group Assignment Presentation – 4 hours (hands-on exploration and interactive presentations)

Course Modules:
Month 1: Foundations of Wholistic Conformation
Understanding conformation as a system of whole-body balance
Breaking free from the empirical mindset
Developing observational skills to identify natural dynamics in equine posture and movement

Month 2: History and Philosophy of STEP Horsemanship
The evolution of horsemanship and conformation balance through history
Classical horsemanship principles and their relevance today
STEP Philosophy: Aligning with nature to restore balance and symmetry

Month 3: The Quest for Equine Symmetry
Recognizing patterns of asymmetry in horses and their impact
Tools and techniques for observing and identifying imbalance
Dynamic balance: How the horse’s environment and movement influence symmetry

Month 4: Practical Observation and Application
Hands-on observation exercises: Identifying conformation challenges in horses
Presenting group assignments: Sharing observations and findings
Building confidence in recognizing and addressing equine balance

Key Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this semester, participants will:
1. Understand the foundational principles of the STEP Horsemanship Philosophy.

2. Develop dynamic observation skills to identify balance, symmetry, and conformation challenges.

3. Build the knowledge required for Level 1 of the STEP Trainer Certification.

4. Gain tools to assess horses naturally and develop strategies for improving equine balance.

Program Details:
Duration: 4 Months
Start Date: Saturday, March 1, 2025
