The Rio Grande Valley faces higher rates of diabetes and vascular disease putting our Hispanic communities at greater risk due to poor cardiovascular health and delayed PAD diagnosis, resulting in significant limb loss rates. Over 6.5 million adults over 40 in the U.S. have PAD increasing the risk of amputation, stroke, and heart attack per the CDC.This September, South Texas Health System invites you to join our Step Out PAD Walkathon at South Texas Health System Edinburg to help us raise awareness of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) and limb loss prevention this PAD Awareness Month.
• FREE circulation screenings by the Limb Salvage Amputation Prevention Center will be available Tuesday, September 23rd at the main entrance of STHS Edinburg from 9am-1pm.
• Meet our local vascular and wound care specialists.
• No registration is required for screenings or walkathon participation.
