About this Event
Step it Up NYC is a social impact competition and an NYC Department of Youth and Community Development platform for young people to create sustainable change in their communities through dance. This competition serves as an opportunity for the agency to highlight youth voices across the City.
This year's competition is centered around the theme “Stop the Violence | Honoring the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop.” Young people between the ages of 10 and 20 have been challenged to use their performances to raise awareness of issues that impact their communities. Each team will create a social awareness campaign with an accompanying dance routine/performance that embodies their social message.
The final showcase will be a culmination of these young people's hard work and dedication. Teams will perform their dance routines with social messages, and you will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the creativity and passion of these young performers.
Doors open at 4:30 pm. The show will start promptly at 5:30 pm. Guest will not be permitted entrance after the show starts.
