Step Into Spring 2025Presented by Canterbury Festival
Friday 4th April - Monday 7th April 2025
Shake off the gloom of winter and celebrate a new season with a weekend of walks and talks to get you thinking, moving, and discovering local histories and big ideas.
BAFTA-nominated author, activist, poet and performer Lemn Sissay OBE headlines this mini-festival with live readings from his Sunday Times bestselling book, Let The Light Pour In, a collection of short poems written as dawn breaks each morning that are fuelled by resilience and defiant joy.
This year's new interdisciplinary talks programme features a host of leading thinkers and writers such as interior designer Michelle Ogundehin (BBC's Interior Design Masters), bestselling author and broadcaster Horatio Clare (Running for the Hills, Heavy Light), internationally-renowned local author Katherine May (Wintering, Enchantment), Professor of Colonialism and Heritage Corinne Fowler, award-winning writer Annabel Streets (52 Ways to Walk), nutrition and food policy expert Dr Stuart Gillespie (Food Fight) and local Canterbury historian and rambler David Reekie.
If you’re planning on attending multiple events then take advantage of the Step Into Spring discounted Talk Day Passes and make some great savings.
Plus, be quick to sign up for the ever-popular programme of guided walks around Canterbury city centre and the local countryside which invite you to discover a new side to this historic city and the surrounding countryside. Walk in the steps of pilgrims, learn all about the native species of Wildwood, discover the secrets of Canterbury’s Old Park and much more.
There will also be a special Festival Friends Exclusive walk with Paul Bennett, former Director of the Canterbury Archaeological Trust.
