With a career spanning nearly 60 years, Ella transformed from the energetic force behind the swing era at the Savoy Ballroom to a pioneering jazz vocalist known for her bebop improvisation and groundbreaking songbook recordings. Her collaborations with legends like Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, and George Gershwin helped elevate their compositions into American classics, while her later years saw her mesmerizing audiences worldwide, often accompanied by virtuoso guitarist Joe Pass.
Bay Area vocalist Stella Heath, known for her acclaimed programs such as The Billie Holiday Project and Stella Meets Nat, takes on Ella Fitzgerald's iconic repertoire in her new show, Stella Swings Ella. With an all-star band featuring Neil Fontano (piano), Ian Scherer (guitar), Daniel Fabricant (bass), Robby Elfman (saxophone/clarinet), and Spike Klein (drums), this performance promises to be an unforgettable tribute to the legendary Ella Fitzgerald.
