Spring is here, and it's time to get back on the water! Please join us at the Discovery Park boat ramp for a fun and impactful clean-up event. We’ll launch paddle boats and head upstream along Steelhead Creek where we will continue work on the large debris dam we first began tackling 2 weeks ago. Teams will work in the water, collecting trash, while land teams will haul it up to the bank for Sacramento County Regional Parks’ crews to remove.We have several extra boats available! Leave your name in the comments to reserve a spot — we’ll accommodate everyone on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have an extra boat or space in your canoe, please let us know. This area is filled with floating debris, and your help will make a big difference! Check out the short video in the comments for a sneak peek.
PARKING: Please park near the Discovery Park Boat Ramp. Parking passes will be available at the boat ramp.
AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors 14 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy, mud-resistant footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves - a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. As there is very deep water in the creek channel at this location, participants will not be allowed into the channel without a boat and PFD.
As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Overall, be safe, have fun and get some “Exercise with a Purpose” as Bill Templin says.
