Meeting in Matlock Bath the mecca of biking we ride through some of the magic of Derbyshire into Staffordshire to the quaint little station of Froghall on the Churnet Valley Railway in time to catch our 1030hrs steam train journey on which we will be served traditional Staffordshire Breakfast with tea/coffee whilst we drink in the passing scenery. The Churnet Valley railway was brought back to life in the 1980’s having fallen into disuse.As we wait on the 1800’s platform we might see some of the engines that have been lovingly restored.
On our return to Froghall we set off to enjoy a ride up past Hen Cloud, the Mermaids Pool and through the Derbyshire Peak District stopping at points of interest- maybe the plague village or Peters Stone where robbers and murderers were gibbeted…. lots to see!
Afternoon Tea is a must before we continue to Matlock Bath where our ride culminates.
