About this Event
Come join us on Saturday, December 14 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Lewis Latimer House Museum for S.T.E.A.M Saturday! This workshop celebrates the intersection of art, science, culture and storytelling through the creation of mini family quilts.
Family quilts have been used for centuries as a way to keep families warm, to celebrate events, and to pass on traditions and knowledge. In this workshop, participants will get to tell their own family's story using patterns and fabric!
Join educators from the Lewis Latimer House Museum to experiment with colors, symbols, and shapes to design a mini family quilt, and learn about Dr. Winifred Norman, the granddaughter of the Black inventor and innovator, Lewis Latimer, who kept his legacy alive.
This S.T.E.A.M Saturday workshop is free and open to all ages!
