STEAM in School Age Childcare

Learn how to introduce STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths) activities which are fun, interactive, hands-on and interesting for children in school age care/afterschool care. Technologies used will be unplugged, non-digital and non-screen based!
Suggested STEAM activities will use resources and materials already easily available in the SAC environment.

About the trainer:
Paula Walshe is a published author, PhD candidate and Assistant Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at Dundalk Institute of Technology. Her PhD research focuses on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths) in early childhood education and care (ECEC). In 2023 Paula published her first book entitled "Síolta in Practice" which is a guide to implementing Síolta quality standards in ECEC. It is published by Boru Press and is available here. Paula's forthcoming second book entitled "Full STEAM Ahead" is a guide to implementing STEAM in the early years and will be published in Autumn 2024 also by Boru Press.
